Bubble and squeak is a cockney dish that is traditionally made with leftover vegetables from a Sunday roast dinner.The vegetables are fried in a pan with some butter or oil, and then mashed together to create a chunky, flavourful dish.Bubble and squeak can be served on its own as a side dish, or with some additional ingredients as a main meal. It is a traditional English dish made from the leftovers of Sun day dinner or Christmas dinner, with the main ingredient being the leftover potatoes and cabbage, though most vegetables can be added such as Broccoli and carrots. ~ Increase the heat, add the leftover peel and diced baked potatoes crushing them slightly and cook till they start to crispen and colour. Bubble and Squeak is so called because of the noises it makes whilst frying in the pan. ![]() Turn up the heat slightly and add the mashed potatoes and cabbage. Add the onion and sauté for 3 to 5 minutes, or until soft. ![]() ~ Fry finely chopped onion gently in a little oil, butter or fat for a few minutes till soft. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat.
